Storm The Mountains returns for its sixth year, running July 29 through August 1, 2026, in Big Stone Gap, Virginia. The multi-day motorcycle rally features organized group rides through Appalachian mountain roads, including routes over the Dragon Slayer Highway 160, Back of the Dragon, and Cumberland Gap.
The event kicks off Wednesday evening with a pre-event dinner at Good Times Pizza & Pub. Thursday’s main ride departs in two groups – one from Big Stone Gap at 9 a.m. and another from Norton and Wise at 9:30 a.m. – heading to the Back of the Dragon with a stop in Tazewell.
Friday offers multiple ride options throughout the day, including all-day excursions and shorter loops such as Little Shepherds Trail, Panther’s Breath, and Hanging Rock. The day concludes with a glow parade starting at 8 p.m. at Bullitt Park, 301 E. 1st Street North, followed by a police-escorted night ride over Dragon Slayer Highway 160.
Saturday features additional all-day rides to Hazard, Kentucky, and Breaks Park, plus shorter morning and afternoon routes. The event wraps up with an awards ceremony and prize distribution. Vendors will be open Friday and Saturday.
