The Great Pumpkin Party takes place Saturday, October 3, with two sessions: 10 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Centennial Park near the ice rink in Orland Park. The event includes pony rides, marshmallow roasting, hayrides, train car rides, games, inflatables, DJ, dancing, sponsor activities, trunk-or-treat, candy guess and pumpkin weight guess. Registration includes all activities, one pie-size pumpkin and one goodie bag per child. Food and beverages are available for purchase. Resident-only registration runs August 6-18 at $5 per person ages 3 and up. Resident and non-resident registration opens August 19 at $7 per person ages 3 and up. Children 2 and under are free. A children’s costume contest for ages 1-9 will be held at 11 a.m. during the first session and 2 p.m. during the second session, with prizes for Best Costume and Most Creative Costume.
