Annual Trunk or Treat at American Legion Post 14

American Legion Post 14 hosts its Annual Trunk or Treat, a free Halloween afternoon open to the public. Children in costumes collect candy from decorated vehicles from noon to 2 p.m. A costume contest begins at 1:30 p.m. The event runs rain or shine and moves indoors if weather turns bad. Volunteers hand out candy and do not need to decorate a trunk; they should bring a chair and candy. Individually wrapped candy donations are also needed. A pancake breakfast precedes the event from 9 to 10:30 a.m.; breakfast costs $5 or a canned-good donation for a food drive benefiting homeless veterans. The post is at 5315 S. Lakeshore Drive in Shreveport.
