About This Event
The 11th Annual Bumpers & Books: A Literary Trunk-or-Treat takes place on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the back parking lot of the Groton Public Library in Groton, Connecticut. A rain date is scheduled for Saturday, October 24, 2026. This festive twist on a traditional trunk-or-treat invites library staff, volunteers, and community members to hand out treats from vehicle trunks decorated to represent favorite books, authors, or Dewey Decimal call numbers.
Attendees can explore the Book Patch to select a free, brand-new book, take photos in the Picture Patch, and enjoy lawn games. Family-friendly activities and entertainment include balloon artistry, face painting, temporary tattoos, crafts, and free snacks. Bumpers & Books is free and open to the public, and children are encouraged to come dressed in costume.
