Cruisin’ the Heartland, recognized as the best cruise-in in Kentucky, returns to Elizabethtown for a multi-day event spanning Thursday, July 30, through Saturday, Aug. 1, 2026.
The weekend opens Thursday evening with a kickoff screening of “American Graffiti” (1973) at the Historic State Theater in downtown Elizabethtown. Tickets are $5 and include a fountain drink and small popcorn. Show car owners are encouraged to bring their vehicles.
On Friday, July 31, Freeman Lake Park hosts an open car show featuring vehicles of all makes, models and years. Awards include Best in Show, Sponsor’s Choice, Mayor’s Choice and an Elite 20 for the top 20 scoring vehicles, with trophies and cash prizes up for grabs. A free concert by Caribou, food vendors, lawn games and all-day door prizes are also scheduled. Early bird registration is $15 through noon July 30; gate registration is $20. Spectator admission and parking are free. Following the show, participants are invited to cruise through historic downtown Elizabethtown.
The main event takes place Saturday, Aug. 1, in downtown Elizabethtown, billed as the region’s largest cruise-in. Streets close at 6 a.m. to allow vehicles to line iconic U.S. 31W and Highway 62. Activities, live music, food trucks, vendors, free kids activities and hourly giveaways are planned throughout the day.
