The Kind Hearts Organization hosts its first annual Hot Rides Hot Bowls benefit car show and chili cook-off Sept. 20 at Necaise Ball Field in Perkinston. The event runs 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Car show entry is $30 and includes one wristband for chili tasting and voting. Setup begins at 8 a.m., entries close at 11 a.m., judging starts at 11:30 a.m. and awards are presented at 1:30 p.m. The show is open class, welcoming all makes and models. The first 50 registrants receive a free event dash plaque. Pre-registration by Aug. 19 saves $5 off the entry fee.
Categories include Best Paint, Best Engine, Best in Show, Best Truck, Best Interior, Kid Choice and People’s Choice. Jeep categories include Best Overall, Best Lifted, Best Build, Kid Choice Jeep and People’s Choice Jeep.
The chili cook-off entry fee is $40 for teams of one to four members. Chili must be cooked on-site with a minimum of three gallons. Registration includes one wristband per team member. Judging includes People’s Choice and Kid’s Choice awards, plus a booth decorating contest themed Cruisin’ Through the Decades.
