About This Event
The Día de los Muertos Festival takes place in the NOTO Arts & Entertainment District in Topeka, Kan., on Friday, Nov. 6, during the district’s First Friday activities. The celebration opens at 4 p.m., and admission is free. TEAM CONECTA organizes the event in partnership with the district.
The program includes music by Gringuchos at Redbud Park from 6 to 8 p.m., a low rider car show, a Catrina contest, Matachines performances, ofrendas and vendors, with food trucks on site. Lowriders are welcome to join the car show.
This year’s celebration recognizes Armando Cruz for his dedication and contributions to the Hispanic community. His family will join the event to accept the recognition and help celebrate his legacy.
The 900 block of Kansas Avenue will be closed for parking to make room for the festivities. The surrounding district along Kansas Avenue holds art studios and galleries, murals, shops and restaurants.
