Rusk & Roll Sock Hop On The Square

Rusk & Roll Sock Hop On The Square brings 1950s nostalgia to downtown Rusk with a classic car cruise-in and dance party. The evening opens with a cruise through town from 6 to 7 p.m., then returns to the square from 7 to 9 p.m. for music, dancing and food.

Guests can dress in 1950s style, with poodle skirts, saddle shoes, leather jackets, cuffed jeans, cat-eye glasses and scarves encouraged. Contests include Best ’50s Ride, Best Couple Costume, Best Greaser, Best Pink Lady, an Elvis look-alike contest, Name That ’50s Tune and a cherry pie eating contest. A People’s Choice Award goes to the coolest ride.

A pop-up ’50s diner serves burgers, fries, hot dogs, shakes and floats, with food trucks and root beer floats also on hand. Photo ops round out the evening. Spectators attend free, and the event welcomes classic cars.
