Summer Slash is a horror-themed event with an 80s vibe taking place Aug. 15 at Travis County Expo Center in Austin. The event features The Chopping Mall vendor market with special guest Allen Danziger (Chainsaw Jerry from Texas Chainsaw Massacre), who will bring the green tribute van from the original film. Horror movie screenings include Chopping Mall (1986) at 1 p.m. and Friday the 13th Part 3 in old-school analog 3D at 3 p.m. Live music begins at 6 p.m. with Trioxin, followed by Skatenigs at 6:45 p.m. and End of the Century (Ramones tribute) at 7:50 p.m. Slashdance, an 80s dance party with costumed monsters and icons, runs 9 p.m. to midnight. A mini horror car show featuring hearses and replica horror cars will be on display 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. DJs include DJ Pumpkin Spice, DJ V and DJ Minimus. Food, drinks and alcohol will be available for purchase. Parking is free. Space is limited in the Skyline Club for movies, bands and Slashdance.
