The Lake Placid Ski Club hosts its 43rd Annual Olympic Car Show over two days in late August. The event begins Saturday evening with Cruise Nite from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Lake Placid Fire Department, 456 Old Military Road. Activities include a Park & Meet and a Hot Dog BBQ. Participants will cruise Main Street and around the lake at 8 p.m.
Sunday’s car show and awards take place at the Olympic Speed Skating Oval on Main Street. Check-in runs from 9 to 10:45 a.m., and the show operates from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Vehicles of all years, makes, and models, including cars, trucks, and motorcycles, are welcome. Cars will be parked on the oval in order of arrival without class placement.
Awards include Favorite 25 Plaque, Top 3 Best of Show Overall Cash and Trophies, Top 5 Participant’s Choice Trophies, Top 3 Spectator’s Choice Trophies, Muffler Rap Plaques in several categories, and a Club Participation Plaque. After awards at 4 p.m., Muffler Rap entertainment and a BBQ follow.
Proceeds benefit the Lake Placid Ski Club Youth Ski Programs for Alpine, Nordic, and Ski Jumping disciplines. Registration fees for cars are $20 before July 15, $25 after, and $35 at the gate, covering the driver, one guest, and children. Spectator fees are $10 for adults, $5 for students, and free for children under 12. The event is held rain or shine with no refunds.
