Trunk or Treat in Downtown Mineola

Downtown Mineola hosts its annual Trunk or Treat on Oct. 31 from 5 to 7 p.m., with businesses, organizations and community groups handing out candy along the downtown streets. Participation is free, and groups do not need to register to take part; those that complete the registration form are included on the flyer shared before the event so families know who will be there. A costume contest begins at 6:30 p.m. in front of the Mineola Chamber of Commerce with free entry. Categories cover ages 6 and under, 7-14, and 15 and older, with 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes in each. Each category is limited to 10 spots, and early registration is encouraged. The event benefits the Shirley Chadwick Scholarship Fund.
