The “When We Were Kings and Queens – Car Parade & SoulFest” will take place on February 28, 2026, in Blytheville, Arkansas, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The event will honor members of the Black United Youth and participants of the Black Power Movement in Blytheville from the 1970-1971 period. Special honors will be given to Carter Roane (Sonny) Williams (RIP) and family, Bob Broadwater and family, Archie Cooper (RIP), Mrs. Joyce Cooper Hunter and family, Mrs. Virginia Don and family, Doctor L.B. Burton, and Pastor Lawrence Echols, Sr. (RIP).
The car parade will begin on Elm Street with a dedication ceremony, proceed to Williams Park for another dedication, and then move to the historic Black business district on Ash Street. The event will include a signature campaign petition opposing a city government takeover and at-large voting. Community leaders, politicians, churches, pastors, families, and youth are invited to attend. The event is organized by Unity For Success Foundation and Rev. Mike Middlebrook, Chairman/Founder of PraiseOn Global Ministry. Participants and supporters are encouraged to reach out through Facebook and social media platforms.
