Heartland Classic Cruisers and the City of Vernon host an annual car show at the courthouse square in Vernon. Registration runs from 9 a.m. to noon with a $15 fee. The show features awards to the top 40 vehicles plus 7 special awards. A food truck operates during the event. Gas cards and prizes are awarded, with judging and giveaways occurring every 10 minutes starting at 9:30 a.m. Following the car show, the North Vernon City Cruise takes place downtown from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., sponsored by NAPA. Attendees are invited to participate in both the show and the cruise. Free hot dogs and water are provided by NAPA at the cruise.
